Asbestos Awareness

Duration – ½ day


This course will provide participants with an understanding of the history and uses of asbestos, the hazards of asbestos exposure, personal hygiene and work practices as well as the use, cleaning, and disposal of respirators and protective clothing. We will also visit the Ministry of Labour Regulation 278/05 as well as the regulatory requirements for asbestos waste transportation and disposal.

Mold Awareness

Duration – ½ day


This course will provide participants with an understanding of what is mold, why and how mold forms in buildings, the basic science of mold, factors affecting mold growth, common causes of water intrusion, fundamentals of mold remediation, personal hygiene and work practices as well as the use, cleaning, and disposal of respirators and protective clothing. We will also do a brief synopsis of the IICRC S520 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation.

Bloodborne Pathogen Awareness

Duration – 2 hours


This course will provide participants with an understanding of what are bloodborne pathogens and how they are transmitted, workplace job duties that could expose you to blood and other possible infectious materials, and methods that will prevent or reduce exposure including work practices and personal protective equipment. We will also cover Hepatitis B and C, HIV, symptoms and methods of transmission.

Psychometry

Duration – 4 hours


This four hour course is an ideal prelim for any water damage professional working towards the IICRC WRT Certification and/or the Applied Structural Drying Certification. This subject is the most challenging section of the WRT course and the student will enter the WRT/ASD courses with a solid foundation of the relationship between temperature, relative humidity (RH), and grains per pound (GPP).

Respirator Protection & PPE

Duration – 2 hours


This course will go over in detail the common types of Personal Protective Equipment with a lengthy focus on the respiratory protection requirements of CSA Standard Z.94.04. We will also go over Qualitative Fit Testing and the importance of a clean fit. This course does not include information on the equipment required for Working at Heights such as the specifics of a Fall Arrest System.

Lead Abatement Awareness

Duration – 4 hours


This four hour course will provide background information on lead and sources of contamination and exposure. We will review the Hazard recognition and the related health effects. Personal protective equipment as well as best work practices will be detailed.
